Tentative Lab Schedule

Lab module directors listed next to time schedule followed by brief description. All didactic conference faculty will serve as lab faculty assigned to specific tables for direct supervision.

9:00-10:30 AM - Dr. Coert and Murray
PIP joint arthroplasty - Cadaver demonstrations will emphasize the nuances of different surgical approaches to performing PIP joint arthroplasty. Participants will be able to perform and repeat the procedures various times on their specimen with experience faculty assisting during the very technical nature of this surgery.

10:30-12:30 PM - Drs. Berner and Badia
Arthroscopic Artelon thumb CMC arthroplasty - Video and live cadaver demonstration will be done to illustrate basic arthroscopy of the thumb CMC joint followed by interposition arthroplasty using either tendon grafts or the artelon spacer implant. Revision to open technique will also be discussed as well as specific indications for each arthroscopic stage. Participants will have opportunity to practice both arthroscopic and open surgeries in this new area of basal joint reconstruction.Conclusion and Remarks - Dr. Badia

12:30-1:30 PM - Lunch

1:30- 4:00 PM  - Dr. Topper Wrist arthroscopy and arthroplasty - participants will practice basic diagnostic arthroscopy of the wrist with overview on how to manage common problems such as synovits, TFCC tears, carpal ligament injuries and ganglion excisions. Basic and advanced portal placement will be emphasized as well as teaching pearls by the experienced faculty.
The same wrist will then undergo total wrist arthroplasty using the appropriate instrumentation after a detailed surgical demo by the faculty.

4:00-5:00 PM  - Dr. Cobb and Mirza
Endoscopic cubital tunnel release - participants will learn indications and landmarks to perform endoscopic in situ release of the ulnar nerve at the elbow. Cadaver demonstration, surgical video will be followed by participants completing the exercise on their cadaver.
