Press ReleaseContact: Carla de Maria All Hands on DoralDoctors from 18 different Countries Will Gather in Doral for the 5th Annual Doral, February 23, 2010 – Dr. Alejandro Badia, MD, FACS, world renowned Hand & Upper Limb Surgeon is hosting the 5th annual Hand Reconstruction Course at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa on March 7 and 8. Close to 200 participants will descend in the City of Doral from Egypt, Finland, France, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Panama, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago, Canada, US, and other countries representing 18 different nations. The two-day conference and course will feature presentations and lectures from surgeons from around the world, while participants, which includes doctors, therapists and some of the biggest industry names in the field, will have the opportunity to get “hands on” training on cadavers at the Miami Anatomical Research Center – the M.A.R.C (formerly known as the DaVinci Center), the world’s largest cadaver surgical training center. In celebration of the 5th anniversary a therapist lab module has been added, giving the therapists the opportunity to also participate in a lab with Dr. Sue Michlovitz. In a time when most conferences and courses are being cut or downsized the Miami Hand Reconstruction Course has grown year after year. As people are more active and hand maladies continue to increase, there’s a growing demand for techniques that focus solely on joint reconstruction in the hand and upper extremity. Five years ago, Dr. Badia recognized this need and organized this annual conference and course for surgeons and therapists devoted to upper limb arthroscopy and arthroplasty. Throughout his career, Dr. Badia has played a key role in teaching and promoting his field of expertise locally, nationally and at the international level. As such, he runs an active international hand fellowship program from his facility, Badia Hand to Shoulder Center, in Doral. Dr. Badia has led the development of Doral into becoming a medical Mecca for surgical training and continues to transform the city as a clinical center of excellence due to other specialists setting up their practices here as well. This hand conference and course yet again attest to his commitment to his industry and to the City of Doral. Along with optimal location and infrastructure, Doral is fast becoming a medical destination for patients from Latin America and the Caribbean basin. From his facility, Badia Hand to Shoulder Center, he trains surgeons through live feeds to the M.A.R.C. and other training centers around the world. During the last year, Dr. Badia has performed several surgeries in Doral while training via live feed to Strasbourg, France.
